Follicular unit extraction, or FUE, is a type of hair transplant procedure that does not require incisions or stitches. Instead of removing strips of skin from the scalp that contain hair follicles, the individual hair grafts are removed. This is a meticulous procedure that extracts the hair follicle from one area of the scalp and transfers it to another area. A small puncture is made in the skin where the hair graft is placed, but no incisions or stitches.

FUE offers a scarless hair transplant option, but when performed manually, it is very time consuming, resulting in higher costs for the patient.
